What is my car worth?

The price decides whether a listing sells in days or in months. Carvexia cannot honestly offer a valuation at the press of a button — that would need transaction data we do not yet have. What we show instead: how to work the price out yourself, using the same steps a dealer takes.

What to look at

  • Search comparable cars: same model, year plus or minus one, mileage plus or minus twenty thousand. Fewer than five comparables is not a basis.

  • Asking prices are not sale prices. On private listings expect a discount at closing; on dealer prices the gap is smaller.

  • What raises the price: a complete service history, one previous owner, a fresh inspection, a tow bar, all-wheel drive, and an automatic gearbox from mid-size upwards.

  • What lowers it: missing documentation, several owners in a short time, major service due, accident damage in the history, a smoker's car.

  • Across Europe it pays to look over the border: the same model is valued differently in different markets. Searching across 29 markets shows that difference.

Common questions

Why is there no valuation calculator that returns a figure?
Because such a figure would have to be reliable, and that requires actual completed sales as its basis. An invented estimate would be more convenient but would mislead sellers. Once enough sales run through the platform, a calculator is the next step.
Should I build in a negotiating cushion?
A small one, around five per cent. A large cushion hurts more than it helps: buyers filter by price limits, and a car just above the line does not appear in the list at all.
