Contract and handover
A sale contract protects both sides and takes ten minutes. It records what was sold, in what condition and for what price — and it is the reason there is no argument later. Two copies, both signed, one for each side.
What to look at
Full details of both parties including ID numbers, plus the chassis number, mileage, and the date and time of handover.
The clause “sold as seen and test-driven, all warranty excluded” — permissible and important for a private seller.
List known defects individually. The warranty exclusion does not cover what you knew and did not say.
List what is handed over: number of keys, service book, inspection report, winter tyres, tool kit, charging cable.
Payment and handover in the same moment. If the contract says “amount received”, sign only when the money is actually there.

- Neither — a handwritten contract containing the points above is valid. Completeness matters, not formality.
